I was rather embarrassed to go into that. I spent $120 on a Kodak EasyShare Z1275 and that's the only digital camera I've got, it's where all the pictures I posted to this thread and my FG album came from. It took me two days reading the manual before I powered it on and gave it a go, it's very different from my 35mm cameras.
When I was in short trousers I had a 127 Kodak Brownie one Christmas and I still have the prints and negatives from that. Going through school I upgraded to a bellows 120 and a 4x5" plate camera, and then an East German Exa SLR which I used for years and upgraded to an Olympus OM2 with a good telephoto lens. Those are what I learned on. I had a 120 Bronica ETLR that ended up with my daughter, that was fun because I preferred the fine grain for colour work. I'm not sure I'd go back to any of those now.
I'd quite like to try something that can capture 1080 24p movie, that's where I'm working toward. Something with either instant focus or a manual focus on the lens, and a manual telephoto. That would give me adequate still pictures as well probably.
