Trust me hun, I hear you, we have some of the worst transport truck drivers here................now, they are governed at 90km, which means they can go no faster then that in Canada, but as you said when its only a 70Km zone..............

plus some think because they are so big........they own the road and take advantage of that!

I hate driving beside them, my nerves are shot!

Do you not run tachos in North America? Not only do they show time at the wheel they show speed against limit when compared to the route taken.

no, never heard of that, sounds like a great idea!

Its really a shame we don't have that, it would certainly come in helpful.

I thought the tachograph was now universal - we've had them for about 30 years.

I don't use a hands free either because it's the act of concentrating on the conversation not holding the phone that is dangerous. I find it too distracting for safety. You need to keep your concentration so you can avoid other drivers. You see people using a hands free, getting engrossed and slowing down, going in to the back of stationary traffic. (that last one is from personal experience, guy got out, still with his earpiece attached, and asked why did I stop-so I pointed to the junction)

It's one of my pat hates, you phone someone, they answer you ask is it convenient to speak and they say no I'm in a meeting/ driving so why have the phone on in the first place?

I have kids and grandsons and a hubby with health problems. I keep my phone on in case of an emergency. If someone just needs me because of some major issues, I pull into a parking lot and talk to them. I am a smart, defensive driver that has never had a ticket...not even pulled over. Never had an accident either. If it's a number I don't know, then it goes to voice mail.

I'm 18 and still can't drive so i don't really have opinions about this. Texas thought about changing the age group to 18... which would be insane!

O.K that's slightly different, why not get a hands free though? I Suppose it depends how congested the roads are as well, I have to travel on one of the most congested roads in europe, all it takes is a few seconds daydreaming or distraction and you have a shunt happening.

I heard of a guy who drives an 18 wheeler talking about how he can see in peoples cars, when he passes by. he was saying that cell phones are nothing compared to what he's seen some people doing!

one guy was making himself a sandwich while driving down the road, someone was watching tv, women putting on makeup, one guy was even reading the newspaper!
