Id like to talk about doughnuts. You cant find good ones anymore. The kind that are fried and a little crunchy on the outside all sweet and buttermilky on the inside.

Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Doughnuts can go straight to hell as far as Im concerned.

I really hate to disagre.. there is no such thing as a bad doughnut. I have never seen one, I have never tasted one and I've never heard of one until just now. What has this world come to?:rolleyes:

Winchell's Donuts had the best damn donuts ever. I know I worked in one for 3 years while going to college. Yummy crispy ones you would love Nomie.

Yes, those are the best donuts. I used to get a dozen every Saturday morning for the kids when they were little, they thought that was the yummiest treat on earth.

I don't eat Donuts - been @ 30 years.

there is absolutely NO Nutrients in Greasy Dough.

don't eat them & then there's nothing to complain about...:wah:

have Raisin Bread toasted, if you must...

This mom and pop shop was here since these grandparents parents grandparents were the original mom and pop.. every morning but wednesday.. 5 am they are open and ready for customers.. and we get a bakers dozen:-4, not the pretend dozen ..:rolleyes:

Ahh.. Nomad... for decent doughnuts, you need to come to the UK, to a seaside town, and go to one of those doughnut stalls that fry them fresh... then coat them with sugar... or toffee.... I could eat a whole bag of ten.... EASILY!!!

The best doughnuts come from a place in Ocean City, NJ called Dot's Donuts. They have the best Boston Cremes I've ever tasted...yah, real cream not that white crap.

Im not going to name names but there are a couple of Krispy Kreme fans out there. Youre banned from further contributions to this thread. Youre novices. Doughnut rookies. Newbies.

If you love KK then you dont even know what a doughnut is.

I feel sorrow and pity for you. Another said hes never had a mediocre doughnut. Thats a guy that thinks those Little Debbie doghnuts are good.

Man that is just sadness !

I can just see him sticking 2 in his mouth at one time, eyes bulging, no chewing, kinda like a slider from White Castle thinking man oh man this is tasty !

If you have ever stood on top of a "hill" in the Smoky mountains, thats Krispy Kreme.

A mom and pop bakery is Mount Everest.

Potato doughnuts ?

The machines are no good, but... the doughnuts MUST be fresh... even the Krispy Kreme's have to be fresh out of the oven to be any good... those ones that they sell in the local supermarkets are already too old. The best glazed yeast doughnuts I've ever had are ones that I made myself using an old family recipe.

The doughnut that I believe Nomad is seeking can be found in Westport, Connecticut in a lil' stripmall shop called the Coffee an' Donut Shop.

My nearest retail park has a doughnut vender van. Indian lady runs it. They are made infront of you, you can actually see the process if your tall enough:D Im not at 5ft 2 so hubs picked me up to peep over the metal barrier:yh_rotfl

Once their cooked their dipped into sugar and bagged... 4 for Â£2

Worth every penny, their not greasy, their not tooo doughy and their ultra morish:yh_rotfl...

YUMMETY YUM...Hot & Fresh is the only way to eat a doughnut:D
